Culinary and Fashion Events at Select Macy's Stores Help Raise Awareness and Funds for the Cause
Individual Information And Details On Local Events Can Be Found At www.macys.com/cometogether
NEW YORK – August 2009 – Macy's and Feeding America inspire an innovative and meaningful new effort this fall that celebrates the renaissance of cooking at home with a goal of raising 10 million meals for domestic hunger. The "Come Together" campaign will rally customers to host dinners in their homes, but will ask their guests to donate to Feeding America in lieu of the traditional contribution of a dish or bottle of wine. Macy's will match customer donations dollar for dollar until we reach a total of 10 million meals. To launch the campaign, Macy's will host a special VIP dinner party during New York Fashion Week in its flagship Herald Square store on September 15. The event, hosted by Martha Stewart and Emeril Lagasse, will benefit Feeding America and will include other celebrity and VIP guests, along with Macy's customers. Simultaneously, more then 650 Macy's stores will host the "World's Largest Dinner Party" serving "First Course" tastings at 6pm local time. Information about how customers can get involved in the fundraising campaign will be available in-store and online.
In addition, nationally recognized Macy's Culinary Council chefs will host 29 dinner events, and Macy's will host more than 28 fashion events at selected full-line Macy's stores across the country. Come Together events will include instore dinners, culinary advice, cooking demonstrations, fashion shows and special shopping nights that will run from mid-September through mid-October. A full schedule of events will be available online at www.macys.com/cometogether.
Following the official kick-off at Herald Square, the Macy's Culinary Council - made up of 15 chefs which include Tyler Florence, Todd English, Wolfgang Puck, Govind Armstrong, Cat Cora, Tom Douglas, Gale Gand, Emeril Lagasse, Andrea Robinson, Tim Scott, Nancy Silverman, Takashi Yagihashi, Rick Bayless, Marcus Samuelsson and Ming Tsai - will host 29 dinner parties with a specific menu designed by the chef in Macy's stores across the country. With a small donation, customers will rub elbows with local celebrities, engage in chef demonstrations and book signings and receive a special gift bag. Below is the complete list of cities where Come Together culinary events will occur*.
In addition, 28 fashion events are scheduled that will help customers shop for the ultra chic dinner party ensemble. These events will feature music, fashion presentations with top stylists from magazines and other media, and special shopping incentives available that evening only. With a $10 donation at the door, customers will receive a $10 Macy's Gift Card to spend that evening. Following is a complete list of cities where Macy's Come Together fashion events will take place*.
