BRAG
Bill Hawthorne accepted the Business Achievement Award at the Black Retail Action Group's (BRAG) 38th Annual Scholarship & Awards Dinner Gala. This Award is in recognition of Bill's leadership and moving the needle on diversity at Macy's. A special tribute was dedicated to J.J. Thomas for his years of commitment and service to the BRAG organization, and his commitment to the development and success of the BRAG students. Bloomingdale's, and Macy's divisions have supported the BRAG scholarship and intern program for a number of years and executives from Macy's, Inc. serve on BRAG's Board of Directors and Advisory Board: Nicole Cokley, Shawn Outler, and Chris Meier.
BRAG was founded in 1970. The group's first general membership meeting was held in July 1970 as an outgrowth of a similar organization, the National Negro Retail Advisory Group (NNRAG). The industry response that followed reinforced the belief that an organization of this kind was needed and could serve as a positive force in securing the participation of minorities in retail and related industries.
BRAG is dedicated to the inclusion of people of color in retail and wholesale industries.
