Bloomingdale's introduced the "First edit" store-within-a-store in March 2008 in seven locations across the country. First edit is an eclectic, trend-right mix of ready-to-wear apparel brands not typically found in department stores, both from established names and emerging designers. The merchandise assortment and concept of picking the most chic, fashion-forward pieces of each brand, makes this department completely exclusive to Bloomingdale's.

Designer Thomas O'Brien was introduced at select Bloomingdale's stores in august 2007. His "modern vintage" sensibility is showcased in a casual-contemporary furniture collection with Hickory Chair and distinctive tableware and home accessories collections with Reed & Barton.
